Hawaii Body Lift
If you have loose skin and excess fat in your abdomen, it's very likely that you also have similar conditions in other areas of your body such as your buttocks and thighs. Long hours in the gym and a healthy diet can't always eliminate these problems to give you the look you want. If this sounds familiar, you may be a candidate for a cosmetic surgery procedure in Hawaii known as a body lift.
Dr. Todd Mirzai has the skill to get optimal results from your body lift, and they have the board-certification in plastic surgery to put your mind at ease. To learn more about body lift surgery, you can schedule an appointment online or contact us by phone or email.
Reasons for Considering Body Lift
Men and women in Hawaii who have achieved weight loss may be left with areas of loose skin and excess fat tissue. The goal of a body lift is to remove sagging skin that has lost elasticity and to smooth and slim body contours. Unlike many other surgical and non-surgical body contouring procedures, a body lift may actually improve the appearance of cellulite while creating a tighter and slimmer appearance.
If loose skin and excess fat are located primarily in your abdominal area, an abdominoplasty may be sufficient to give you the look you want. However, if your contours are unattractive in other areas, optimal results can be accomplished with a body lift. The areas addressed with a body lift commonly include the:
· Abdomen
· Flanks
· Lower back
· Buttocks
· Groin
· Thighs
Because a body lift addresses multiple areas, it can be of great benefit to have two qualified plastic surgeons performing surgery together. Choosing a team of surgeons can reduce the cost of your procedure and the time that the procedure will take (meaning that you are under anesthesia for a shorter period).
General Procedure
In Hawaii, a body lift at our practice is usually performed using Total IV Anesthesia (TIVA) with the aid of experienced anesthesia professionals. The use of TIVA results in several benefits for our patients: reduced post-operative pain, reduced risk of blood clots in the legs, lower incidence of post-operative nausea and vomiting, and avoidance of "hangover" effects.
In Hawaii, tummy tuck can be a highly personalized procedure, meaning that the number and location of incisions will differ. Dr. Mirzai or Dr. Phan will work closely with you and, based on your goals, develop a unique treatment plan. In general, an incision will be made around your lower abdomen to remove skin and fat and to tighten underlying tissue. Liposuction may be used to aid the process of fat removal.
Recovery Process
Our practice strives to make your recovery as pleasant as possible. During the initial recovery period, patients flying in from other islands often choose to stay in our private bungalows, located right across the street from the Maui surgery center. Our surgeons even make "house calls" to check-in on your progress.
Initial discomfort after your body lift is normal, and can be controlled with pain medication. You will be instructed to rest for a certain period of time after surgery, during which it is important to avoid activities that would place force on or abrasion to your incisions. When swelling subsides, the results of your body lift will be visible.
