Breast Lipoaugmentation: The First Breast Augmentation with Autologous Fat in Hawaii!

Dr. Todd Mirzai and Dr. Bao Phan with Hawaii Plastic Surgery Associates are proud to announce that on Aug. 17, 2011 they performed Hawaii's first breast augmentation procedure that uses the patient's own fat, a procedure they are calling Breast Lipoaugmentation. The procedure was performed under local anesthesia in the office and involved suctioning the patient's own fat in her thighs and "muffin tops" where she had excess unwanted fat, concentrating and purifying the fat and injecting it in her breast tissue. The results? Immediate natural enhancement of the breast with improved shape and volume with softer texture and less discomfort, swelling and recovery than traditional breast augmentation with implants. As an added benefit, the patient was able to get rid of unwanted fat of her saddle bags and muffin tops that had always bothered her.

Laser Sweat Ablation for Axillary Hyperhidrosis

Laser Sweat Ablation: the Alternative Laser Treatment of Axillary Hyperhydrosis

Dr. Todd Mirzai and Dr. Bao Phan with Hawaii Plastic Surgery Associates are proud to announce that on Aug. 17, 2011, they performed Hawaii's first laser treatement for axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of underarms). The 30 minute laser procedure was done under local anesthesia in the office with minimal discomfort and little redness, swelling or bruising with significant improvement of sweating and relief within hours! The patient was able to drive the same day and returned to work the following day. This procedure is more effective at achieving permanent sweat gland reduction than the less effective and temporary effects of topical medications and Botox injections and is a safer and less invasive alternative to the thoracic surgery being performed.

Our patient's reaction to her results so far? "Life-changing," to be able to wear any type of clothing she wants, not be embarrased in social situations because of soaked underarms, discolored clothing and foul odors, and not have to constantly spend money on lotions and creams that only masked the problem.

ULTHERAPY ultrasound skin lifting and tightening 

Our practice is the first in Hawaii to offer the new non-surgical Ultherapy™ procedure for the tightening and lifting of loose, laxed skin.  Cleared by the FDA in September 2009, it utilizes medical ultrasound - renowned for its gentleness and safety - in a completely non-invasive 30- 60 minute procedure.   We place an ultrasound wand on top of your skin to send sound waves below the surface, causing tissue to contract and new collagen to form over time.  There is no downtime whatsoever with Ultherapy, and you can return to normal activities immediately. We now have the ability to use ultrasound imaging to SEE the layers of tissue we want to treat below the surface of the skin, and then focus the same ultrasound energy to TREAT just the targeted tissue.  This allows us to be much more precise in how we treat your skin.  Because this is accomplished without disrupting the epidermis, or top layer of skin, patients experience no downtime.  Good clinical results can be seen with just one treatment, but excessive skin laxity may require additional treatments.  This entirely new type of non- surgical skin tightening can produce some immediate skin firming and toning right after the treatment, but the full lifting and tightening effect will build gradually over 2-3 months.  Although Ultherapy will not produce the same dramatic rejuvenation (or have the same longevity) as a facelift or browlift, when combined with tissue fillers, Botox and/ or skin resurfacing procedures, Ultherapy can truly offer a non- surgical solution to those who are looking for something more gradual and natural- looking, with less discomfort and no down- time with less risks- a true "Lunch time facelift."

"Eve" is a patient in her 20's who desired body sculpting to help her lose some areas of fat deposits of her abdomen and "muffin tops" that were resistant to diet and exercise.  She also wanted some added skin tightening.  She needed to get back to work quickly so she could not afford lengthy downtime and chose SlimLipo laser assisted body sculpting.
